SCHOOL SPORT.

Yesterday morning about 50 pupils from the Campbell Street School, Palmerston North, visited Foxton in charge of the headmaster, Mr F. E. Watson, for the purpose of playing teams of footballers and rounder players from the local school. They arrived by the 10.30 a.ra. train and returned to Palmerston North by the afternoon train. The football match was played on the racecourse and was a very fine game the teams being evenly matched. Some few weeks back the Foxton boys played the Campbell Street School team at Palmerston North and suffered defeat by nine points to nil, but yesterday they turned the tables, defeating the visitors by three points to nil. As regards weight the teams which met yesterday were about equal and Foxton owe their win to the superiority cf their backs, who gave a first-class display. The visiting forwards however were a far better pack than the local ones. Foxton’s score was an unconverted try scored by H. McDonnell. Mr PT. Robinson refereed. In the rounder match the Foxton girls als secured a win, defeating the visitors by three points, the scores being Foxton 31, Campbell Street 28. After the games the visitors were entertained at luncheon by the local children and left by the afternoon train after having spent a most enjoyable time.
