NO-LICENSE COUNCIL.

A meeting of the Manawatu No-Iyicense Council was held at Oroua Downs on Wednesday last. Delegates were present from different parts of the electorate. Mr Rockel presided. It was resolved to send a congratulatory telegram to the Hon. Mahuta upon his determination to protect the King Country against the liquor traffic. A resolution was also carried urging the N.Z. Alliance to take the necessary steps to have the present licensing legislation amended, making it illegal for hotel-keepers to supply boarders and their guests with intoxicating liquor on Sundays and after closing hours, in view of recent magisterial decisions permitting same. It was also decided to forward a copy of the resolution to the Minister for Justice and the Premier. The Rev G. Aitken and Mr Hornblow were appointed delegates to represent this electorate at the forthcoming No-Eiceuse Convention.
