TOWN CLERK'S REPORT.
At last night’s Council meeting the Town Clerk reported as follows :—“ The major part of the work for the month has been the completion of the drains and mending of the worse places in the roads. The cement pipes, two feet in diameter, ordered for Norbiton footpath crossing, have arrived, and will be fixed without delay. These pipes are very good, and the cost very little over first-class drain pipes. Park and Clyde streets have been re-planted with Oriental planes under the supervision of the Mayor, and being strong, wellgrown trees, should do well. Those trees of the first planting that were still alive have been replanted in Victoria Park. James Coley has clayed Putter street as authorised by the Council at its last meeting, the clay being spread by the Borough men. I would recommend that the Council order 200 yards ot Ashhurst gravel for road repairs, and ten trucks of limestone to be screened for use on footpaths and roads.” —The report was adopted.
