London, February 18
Mr Selig Brodetsky, a Russian Jew, and a London Board schoolboy, who tied for the senior wranglership at Cambridge in 1908, has won the Isaac Newton Scholarship at Cambridge. [Mr Selig Brodetsky, of Trinity College, Cambridge, born on February 10, 1888, and in 1908 tied for the position of senior wrangler with Mr Archie W. Ibbotsou, of Pembroke College. Mr Brodetsky was born at Olviopol, near Odessa, Russia. He was educated at the Jews’ Free School, Bell-lane, Loudon, and the Central Foundation School, Cowper Street. He gained first prizes in the junior and senior Cambridge local examinations in 1903 and 1904, and the Marmaduke Levitt prize. In 1906 he entered at Trinity College.]
