ENTERTAINMENTS.

FOXTON AMATEURS.

The local Amateur Dramatic Society have secured the Public Hall for the two race nights, Saturday and Monday, January 22ud and 24th, and will produce on the first night that sensational four act drama “The Ticket-of-Leave Man,” and on the second night the well-known three act farcical comedy “The Pickpocket.”

It will be remembered that the Society played “The Ticket-of- > Leave Man” at the Public Hall on November 9th last, to a very large and appreciative audience. Since then they have produced it at both Shannon and Levin and their staging of the play was very flatteringly commented on by the audiences in both these towns. When the play was produced in Foxton the Society did not possess a full range of scenic effects, but have since had new scenes painted-"” and will therefore be in a position to stage the play on Saturday evening next with an absolutely full range of scenery. There will be several vocal items between the acts, thus obviating any dreary waits, and arrangements have also been made for a good orchestra. The success that attended the staging of this piece on November 9th is certain to ensure a full house on Saturday evening next. On the second raoe night, Mr G. Hawtrey’s well-known three , act farcical comedy, “The pocket,” will be staged. Society have bad this piece in careful rehearsal for some time and everything points to asucessful production. The prices of admission have been fixed at 3s, 2s and is.
