ANN^ RNS . The local Clerk of the Court (Mr Woods) has supplied us with the following returns of the business transacted at the local S.M. Court during the year, 1909 CRIMINAL CASKS. The total number of persons taken into custody, summoned, or apprehended, was 150 ; cases dismissed for want of prosecution or evidence, 6 ; dismissed on merits, 10;-committed for trial, 1 ; fined, 82 ; sentenced to imprisonment, 12 ; whipping, 1 ; orders made, 20 ; convicted and discharged with caution, iB, The total amount collected in fines and costs was -£7B 3 s - CIVIL CASKS. The total number of plaints entered for the year was 262 ; cases tried, 224; aggregate amount sued for, ,£2,000 ns nd ; aggregate amount recovered, ,£l,OlB 15s yd. The amount paid in Court fees was £Bl 10s. OLD AGE PENSIONS. During the year, four old age pensions were granted, and thirty renewed.
