An inquest touching the death of Sebastin Ott was held before Mr Alf. Fraser, District Coroner, on Tuesday afternoon, when the following evidence was taken. George Sims Marley, gas engineer, residing in Foxtou, said be knew deceased and last saw him alive at about 5.25 o’clock on Monday evening. Witness and deceased went for a bathe together at about quarter past five. They entered the water together and struck out across the river. Got half way over and turned to come back. Witness continued swimming round the spot where deceased sank but could see no trace of him. Deceased appeared to be a good swimmer. Samuel Feek, in evidence stated that he assisted in dragging for the body on Monday night until ix o’clock. On Tuesday morning, in company with Mr George Langley, he was again dragging and recovered the body at about xo o’clock. Constable Woods stated that at about half past five on Monday evening he received .word that a young man employed by the Gas Proprietary had been drowned near the boatshed.
