CRICKET.

The match played on the Park pitch yesterday afternoon between Himatangi and United, resulted in an easy win for the former by 121 runs on the first innings. The Uniteds were ouly able to muster eight men, and consequently batted three short. Redgrave (Himatangi) ex-New Zealand rep, had a day out, capturing four wickets at a cost of two and a half runs each, and also put up a record for local cricket with the bat by scoring a century. He went in first wicket down and carried his bat out for 112. He was certainly very lucky at the commencement of his innings, two easy catches being declined before he had broken his “duck.” After he got set he gave a first rate display of hitting, and if he can regain his form of a few years back, bowlers in the local competition are in for a bad tithe. His score included one six, ten fours and two threes. None of the other Himatangi batsmen got into dohble figures, the innings closing for 143. For the Uniteds, Spelman was the only one to make any stand at all, scoring 16 not out, of their total of 22. The following are the scores ’ UNITED. * F. Woods, b Redgrave o W.
