CRICKET.
HIMATANGI v. GEEN OROUA This match was played yesterday at Himatangi, cm the new pitch put down last season, and was won by the local team by five runs. From a.cricketing point of view it was a bowlers day, ds will be seen by the number of “blobs” in the score sheet. The Himitangi Club have secured for the season the services of Mr W. Redgrave, anex-NewZealand rep., and though he was not extra good with the bat, his bowling was all there, and the other bowler, Death, was very “deadly.” The umpiring was attended to by Messrs Hartley and Reade. It is somewhat early to predict the future triumphs of Himatangi, but, under Mr Redgrave’s coaching, it is safe to say that that team will make a big bid for the shield. The Glen Oroua team also have to be reckoned with, as in the Ross’ (2) they possess real good bowlers. The weather was all that could be desired, and it future meetings are in accord with yesterday’s gathering, King Cricket will fairly hum. Owing to the scores not being up-to-date in the way of proper records, we are only able to publish the scores in a skeleton form. During the afternoon the two bats and ball presented by Mr G. Coley to the Himatangi Club, were handed over by Mr Redgrave to the Captain and duly acknowledged in the usual form. The following are the scores : HIMATANGI.
