WANGANUI EDUCATION BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. By Telegraph—Special to Herald Wanganui, This Day. The monthly meeting of the Wanganui Education Board was held last night. Present: Messrs Piranl (Chairman), Aldridge, Bennett, Dixon, Fraser, Purnell, Spurdle and O’Dea. Resignations: D. McCormick, Manutahi; B. Brennand, Feilding, D.H.S; I. Malcolm, Auroa. Resolved that the main school of Taikorea shall be at the corner of Cooper’s Eiue and that the present main school shall become a side school. The question of drainage at the Oroua Bridge school was left in the hands of Mr Fraser with power to act. It was decided to leave the removal of Eougburn school in the hands of the Chairman and Mr Bennett. Mr T. R. Hodder was re-ap-pointed the Board’s representative on the Palmerston North District High School Board. The statement of finance showed the overdraft to be 7s 3d, and strong exception was taken to the Board being kept waiting so long for Government money due far technical education, which was the main cause of such a large overdraft. Accounts were passed for payment, amounting to ,£1129 2s lod. Mr O’Dea, the newly-elected member for the northern district was welcomed by the Chairman on behalf of the Board, and was elected to the reports committee. After technical work was dealt with at some length the Board adjourned until to-day.
