THE METHODIST CHURCH.
The quarterly meeting of the Primitive Methodist Church in the Foxton circuit was held in the school room on Wednesday the Rev. J. Clover presiding. H The different parts of the circuit were represented and the attendance was good. Business was , expeditiously disposed of; two additions were made to the roll of members and a total of 83 members were reported. Finances again exceeded expectation. The total income for the quarter w r as ns 3d, Foxton , contributing ,£43 3s 3d of this amount, After meeting all current claims there was a surplus of £7 8s jd which was voted to the Parsonage Fund. In addition to the above over £l7 has been collected for the Home Mission Fund. Messrs G. H. Stiles and M. H, Walker were appointed delegates to the Conference to be held in January next at Timaru. Messrs T. Coker and S. Read- were also appointed vice-delegates. Resolutions bear- \ ing upon the new parsonage were- / passed also a strong resolution reaffirming the imperative need of appointing the present minister . for another year. A new departure was made In appointing Sisters Adey and Minnie as missioners in the circuit for the next three months. They , will be located in Shannon and much of their labours will be concentrated there . although other parts of the circuit will be visited by them and share in their ministry. To enable this mission to be carried out Mr G. H. Stiles generously promised to give a special donation of £ to — which the meeting thankfully received. After the business of the quarterly meeting had been transacted a representative meeting of members and friends was held in the church, the Rev. P. J- Maifs presiding: The object of the meeting was to give a welcome to Sisters Adey and Minnie. Short, warm-hearted, helpful addresses ' were given by the Revs. Clover and Mairs, Messrs G. H. Stiles (circuit steward), M. H. Walker, and J. Thompson. Sister Adey responded in appreciative and, hopeful terms and Sister Minnie sang a solo. Solos were rendered by Mrs Langley and Mr P. Sherratt and a humourous recitation by Mr A. Rimmer. Refreshments were served round and a pleasant meeting ended. . ;
