RUSSELL ROAD RACE.
The bicycle road race from Foxton to Levin thence to Shannon and back to the starting post run on Thursday morning, under the auspices of the Foxton Athletic Club, was won by Joe Cooksley, of Oroua Bridge. The winner was on the ten minute mark and arrived back at Foxton at He was closely followed by Danielson, who arrived about 15 seconds later. After the arrival of Danielson there was a wait of 4%. mins before the third, Harold Hamer, put in an appearance. Day was fourth in arriving at 11.3. The scratch man, Jack Coulter, of Shannon, was next, arriving at 11.5, thus putting up the fastest time, ihr 46mins, Considering the state* of the roads Coulter put up good time. The first prize in this event was a Russell bicycle presented Jby Messrs Fowler and Gordon ; second, trophy valued at £3 3s presented by Mr H. S. Munro and Messrs J. Myers and Co.’s trophy value £1 is, third.
