A Maori youth, aged 17, Koroba Mahunga, was killed yesterday afternoon at Horahora (East Coast) while bushfelling, being crushed instantly to death by a falling trde. Hamilton, Oct. 16. Robert Frost was found drowned in a lagoon near Taupiri.

Au inquest was held at West Clive to-day, touching the death of Patrick Keys, a wool-classer, aged about 34 years, a native of County Limerick, Irelaud. The Coroner returned a verdict that deceased met his death through being accidentally burned iu a fire which destroyed a house at Riverside, occupied by his mother, Bridget Keys, there being no evidence disclosing the origin of the fire. It appeared from the evidence that deceased and a brother had a section at Waimarama, and were on a visit to Clive, staying with their mother. Deceased had two or three drinks during the day, but was perfectly sober when he retired for the night. Auckland, Oct. iS.

The body of James Walter Bird, lauudryman, Onehunga, who had been missing about a week, was found in the harbour yesterday. George Balme, storekeeper, of Bombay, was driving across a level crossing at Runciman on Saturday evening, when a goods train arriving from Auckland collided with his trap. Balme was thrown out, aud tailing on his head was killed instantly. The trap was smashed and the horse fatally injured. Balme was the only occupant of the vehicle. He was driving to the station to meet his wife, Christchurch, October 18.

The body of W. J. Duffell, a labourer, was found on the Pains Road, Sefton, this morning early, with a gunshot wound between the eyes, and a gnu close by. A letter in deceased’s pocket addressed to his wife indicated an intention to commit sucide.
