SCULLING.

AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP. Sydney, Sept, 26. In the Sculling Championship of Australia Pearce beat Day.

Pearce got away best and was never overhauled, though Day, who rowed splendidly, aud made a plucky race, kept him moving several times when he got on close terms, pressing the champion during the last half mile. The finish was exciting, aud 100 yards from home Pearce was leading by about three lengths. Suddenly-he momentarily slopped owing to something going wrong with his left arm, which allowed Day to get almost level before Pearce again got going. The actual win was only half a length. The thud was 26mm isec.
