HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

A meeting of the above Society was held in the Council Chamber last night. Mr Alex. Speirs (president) presided over a well attended meeting. Routine business was transacted, and accounts were passed for payment. Mesdames Stewart and Collins, senr., were appointed to canvass for members and collect subscriptions, and reference was made to the good work done by these ladies last year in this connection. It was decided to communicate with those ladies and gentlemen who had been appointed to officiate as judges, in order to ascertain whether they can take up the duties. After other minor matters had been discussed, the meeting rose.
