BOROUGH FINANCES.
The Borough Treasurer reported at last night’s Council meeting that since the last monthly meeting the sum of ,£134 18s has been paid into the District Fund Account and the present bank balances were : District Fund £73 2s 6d a and Streets Eoan Account £l7 ns, both in credit. The various separate accounts stand as follows General Account, 6s 4d ; Eibrary Account, £23 8s 3d; Reserves Account, 16s; Sanitation Account, os 3d (all overdrawn) ; Cemetery Account, £22 2S ; Interest Account, count, £l7 us all in credit. With the accounts passed for payment last night the end of the financial half year was reached and from a rough estimate the Treasurer has made, he finds that it will be necessary to exercise the utmost economy during the remainder of the year and even then be expects there will be a shortage on the Annual Balance Sheet of over The rates are coming in very slowly and it will be necessary to enforce payment in order to save paying interest on bank overdraft.
