FOOTPATHS.

At last night’s Council meeting the following tenders were received for regrading the footpaths in Main Street; — Walter Weston, for asphalting 48chs, 1 oft x zin, £6 15s per chain ; zqchs, 6ft wide at £3 15 per chain. For limestone, 48CI1S 10ft, £5 15s per chain ; and 24chs 6ft wide at £2 15s per chain. I. Cooksley, asphalting 10ft, £6 per chain ; 6ft, £3 10s per chain. Eimestone, 10ft, £4 10s per chain; 6ft, £2 10s per chain. A. Schlager, asphalt, 10ft, £5 xos per chs ; 6ft, £4 per chain. Eimestone, 10ft, £3 5s ; 6ft, £2 13s. It was decided on the motion of Gr Gibbs, seconded by Cr, Speirs that no tender be accepted for regrading and tarring the footpaths but that the Council employ their own men to regrade and tar a portion of the western side of Main Street between the Post Office and Clyde Street.
