TOWN CLERK S REPORT.
The following report was submitted by the Town Clerk at last night’s Council meeting-In accordance with instructions received I saw Mr C. Petersen and enquired the price he would charge for a three horse team and driver with plough and scoop and he told me 22s 6d per day. The contract of Mr Percy Sherratt for erection of fence enclosing Council section in Harbour Street has been completed.
In accordance with a resolution of the Council trees have been planted in Clyde and Park Streets and those that were over were planted in Idddell Street, the SubCommittee called for tenders for the shelters. The tenders received were William Rimmer, at ros (accepted) ; and A- S. Walsh 8s and R. Speirs X2S. The work has now been completed.
Under instructions from the Mayor notice was given to Mr A. R. Osborne to cut down pine trees on his property at the corner of Robinson and Easton Streets which were overhanging the road which has been done, and the two corner kerbs have been formed in fulfilment of a resolution passed by the Council. The gravel from Ashhurst has been coming steadily forward, most of the metal on new roads is in place, about another 30 yards being required to finish Futter Street which will still leave about 40 yards of the 700 to go into borough yard. I hope to see the footpath formation as authorised in various streets started this week. —The report was adopted.
