THE ARNST PICTURE CO.
RE-APPEAR TO-NIGHT.
Owing to the extremely bad weather there was only a fair attendance at the Public Hall last night to greet the world’s champion sculler and his athletic com - bination, but those who did attend left the hall highly satisfied with the entertainment provided. The first half oi the programme was devoted to pictures, and the films were almost' all new to Foxton audiences. One very fine film was that depicting winter in Switzerland, showing the ground covered with snow, and the pastimes inLdulged in by the inhabitants in W onsequence. In the second half tne film of the great boat race tor the world’s championship was thrown dti the screen. The picture showed both scullers in training and also Webb’s backers leaving '"''"for the race. While this part of the picture was on the screen, one face that was eagerly looked for was that of .the well-known local sport, Mr “Toney” Messena, but he could not be; distinguished, although he wasamong the backers. The race itself "was shown practically frofn start to finish, and no doubt the audience had a better view of it than a great many who visited Wanganui on June 22. The world's champion stood alongside of the picture and explained details of the race. A very interesting item of the entertainment was a three mile bicycle race on home trainers between Jack Arnst and Fogwell, the former conceding Fogwell a start of 160 yards and winning after a good race by a small margin. Dick Arnst gave an exhibition of deep breathing, showing a chest expansion of over twelve inches. He placed a good strong strap around his chest and expanding his chest attempted to break it, but the leather tore away at the buckle. At the conclusion of the show it was announced that as the company had a spare date they would give another entertainment at the Public Hall to-night, when there will be an entire. change of programme, with the exception of the boat race film which will be shown again. Among the films shown will be one of Rome, the Eternal City, also showing the only authorised picture of the late Pope.
