WRECK OF THE MAORI.

The Shaw-Savill liner Maori, outward bound from London for Lyttelton which was wrecked at Duyker Point, near Capetown, struck forty minutes after leaving Capetown, was valued at ,£40,000, and the cargo, largely composed of steel rails, at ,£120,000. She was built in 1893, and was commanded by Captain Nicole, who had a long and successful career with the Shaw-Savill Company. Being bound for the southern ports of New Zealand, there was very little Wellington cargo on board the Maori. Messrs John Duthie and Co. had about -£4s°° worth of pipes, etc., for delivery to the Dunedin Drainage Board.
