CRICKET.

The cricket match, Australia v. Derbyshire, was concluded on Saturday, and resulted in a win for the Australians by ten wickets. The home team scored xi 6 and 166, and the Australians 264 and 21 for no wickets. A pleasing feature of the match was the brilliant exhibition of batting by Victor Trumper, who scored 113. This is Trumpet’s second century of the present tour. His batting average to date is 28‘19 runs per innings. During the 1902 tour of the Australian cricketers, Trumper obtained no less than n three figure scores. It is hoped that he has now struck something like his old form, as no doubt more interest is taken by New Zealanders in his play than that of any other member of the team.
