FREEZING WORKS SITE.
AN EXPLANATION. Mr J. C. Cooper, in au interview with a Dominion representative at Masterton on Saturday, emphatically denied a statement made in this journal alleging that he had said Wellington was an impossible site for the proposed farmers’ freezing works, and that Foxton was an eminently suitable locality. He wished it to be clearly understood that the question of stie was still absolutely open, and would be settled by the shareholders themselves. —In justice to Mr Cooper an explanation from us in reference to the above is necessary. Our representative asked Mr Cooper whether there was any likelihood of the company acquiring the Banks Meat Works at Wellington, and he stated that it was out of the question. The word “site” was published by this journal instead of the “ Banks Meat Works ” at Wellington. We trust our Masterton morning exchange as well as the Dominion will note this in fairness to all concerned.
