ARBOR DAY.
Arbor Day was celebrated locally yesterday by tree-planting in the Park. The Borough Council decided that the day should not be allowed to pass without recognition. Ornamental trees were donated by the Mayor and Councillors, and Town Clerk, and the children attending the local State School were invited to plant them. The children, attended by - the teaching staff, marched in procession from the school, headed by the Band. On arrival at the Park, the children were addressed by Cr. Adams, who apologised for the absence of the Mayor and other Councillors. After the planting had been completed, the children were regaled with fruit and sweets. x
