MANAWATU ROWING CLUB.

A meeting of the committee of . 1 the Manawatu Rowing C|ub was lield in the Hi?RAU> office on Thursday evening 1 . Present i—r Messrs Gower (chairman), White, Hornblow, Healey and Whibley, The Secretary was instructed to write to the late secretary asking for information as to certain of the club's property. Mr White brought up the ques-, . tion of over-hauling, the club’s plant. He suggested having the , present plant thoroughly overhauled and if funds permit to purchase another, four oar outrigger. He contended that to put the club on a sound footing they should cater for 1 the young men of the town who desire' to go in for sculling, as well as for those who desire to use the pleasure boats. He suggested communicating with the Horowhenua Club and endeavouring to arrange a match between four oared crews.

It was decided that the Secretary be instructed to write to, Mr George Norton of Wellington, asking if he would be prepared to give an estimate fcr over-hauling the club's plant. The question of the erection of a new shed was discussed, Mr Hornblow mention ing that a local firm bad asked him if the club were prepared to sell the present shed. In the event of the shed being sold he suggested that the Harbour Board be approached for a ,lease of the section to, the north of Messrs Levin and Co.'s grading store.

It was decided that Mr Hornblow be appointed to interview the members of the firm that had made enquiries in reference to the purchase of the present shed, and ter port at next meeting, and also that the secretary be instructed to obtain all particulars in reference to the section next to Messrs Levin a,nd Co.,' with the object of obtaining lease of same. It was decided that the next meeting b$ held on, Wednesday evening next.
