PERSONAL.

Mr Kellow is acting as local agent for Messrs Eevin arid Co., daring Mr G. W. Morgan’s absence. Mr Dalzell, part-proprietor of the local Post Office Hotel, who met with an accident to his head some time since, which necessitated an operation, is making satisfactory progress. He . is. an inmate of Dr Martin’s private hospital, Palmerston. Mr A, Seifert, who has been under the care of his medical attendant for some time past, is making slow but satisfactory progress towards his usual state of health. Mr Seifert intends taking a long respite from business, and will probably go for a holiday as sbon as he is well enough. It is quite probable his proposed trip to Manila and Mexico, in the interests of the flax industry, will eventuate at a later date.

: Mr P. H. Rae-Howard, who has been a resident of Foxton for upwards of three years, has decided to return to Australia, and will leave Foxton in about a fortnight’s time. He has taken a great interest in all movements for the welfare of the towri, and as Secretary for the Chamber of Commerce, the giant share of the' clerical work in reference to the, formation of the . Harbour Board fell to his lot. He gave his time ungrudgingly. He has also acted as secretary of the local Horticultural Society since its inauguration and iri church work acted as secretary of the local Presbyterian Church. At the ' last municipal election he was a successful candidate. We understand that steps are being taken to mark the appreciation in which he is held. Foxton can ill-afford to lose any of its public-spirited citizens. It has been a pleasure to find in Mr RaeHoward a man who cheerfully and unselfishly undertook duties which other men would only accept under great pressure. ;
