PROPOSED SCHOOL BAZAAR.

Mr F. W. Hopper has signified his willingness to give, free of cost, all the lead head-nails required for fencing purposes at the local school; also to donate £lO worth of goods to the proposed school bazaar. Such generosity is highly commendable, and. the Chairman, on behalf of the School Committee, desires to publicly thank Mr Hopper for his practical sympathy with the school ground improvement scheme. We may mention, by the way, that the meagre attendance at the meeting called by the Committee last Thursday night, to discuss the best method of- raising funds to beautify the school grounds, was adversely commented upon. It is very discouraging to the Committee to find so little interest displayed in the scheme. It is impossible for the Committee to do more than- keep the school premises in a sanitary condition with the limited funds at their disposal. The", proposed improvement will cost fully It is expected that the Board will make a grant, but the townspeople must not shirk their share of the cost. A meeting of ladies willing to assist with the bazaar will be held in the old school house on Wednesday afternoon next, at three o’clock. \
