A POLITICAL REVOLUTION.

MR LLOYD-GKORGR’S BUDGET.

London, June 22

Lord Roseberry, in a letter to the papers, says Mr LloydGeorge’s Budget is a social and political revolution of the first magnitude. Whatever its merits, it will affect vast changes without the faintest desire to attempt to ascertain the people’s views. The country has changed its character it it fails to see that the absolute rule of the party in power differs little from the despotism of an individual. It was a sinister symptom if the former zealous vigilance in regard to the people’s liberties was replaced by apathy. Mr Lloyd-George, replying to a question, said he was prepared to accept an amendment whereby half the increment of the tax on land would go to the local authority.
