THE POLICE FORCE.

ROYAL COMMISSION TO INQUIRE.

In consequence ot statements made in the House before the close of the session the Minister for Justice and in charge of the Police Department has announced that Cabinet will issue a-Royal Commission to Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., to enquire into the condition of the police force. The Minister has intimated that he presumes that the members were aware of their responsibilities when they spoke, and that they will bring evidence to substantiate the charges they made. The course taken by Cabinet has been urged on them by Police Commissioner Dinnie, who wishes the charges to be investigated.
