VALEDICTORY.

A very pleasing ceremony took place in the Methodist Sunday School on Sunday afternoon, when the Mayor (Mr G. H. Stiles) on behalf of the Sunday school teachers and scholars presented Mr S. H. Baker, late superintendent with a travelling rug. Mr Stiles in making the presentation referred to recipient's long connection with the school, extending over a period of 10 years and to the progress the school had made during that time. On behalf of those interested he wished Mr and Mrs Baker God-speed in their future home. Short speeches were also made by the Rev Mr Mairs and Messrs M. H. Walker, Read and Coker, after which the recipient feelingly responded, Mr and Mrs Baker intend leaving Foxton for their new home at Nireaha, next week. The future work of the school will be carried on under the superintendence of Mr G. H. Stiles.
