FIRE AT THE BEACH.
Early on Saturday morning a three-roomed cottage at the Beach owned by Mr A. Shadbolt was totally destroyed by fire. The cottage was not occupied at the time and it is a. mystery how the fire occurred. Messrs Young and Dunn occupy another cottage on the same section and left there about 8 o’clock the previous night when everything appeared safe and there was no sign of fire. The fire was not discovered until the following morning, when Mr Wilson found that the cottage had been totally destroyed. It was a three-roomed cottage built of wood and iron with a brick chimney and furnished. The building was insured in the State Office for but there was no insurance on the furniture.
