TENNIS CLUB SOCIAL.
The local Tennis Club held a most succcessful and well-attended euchre party and dance in the Masonic Hall last night. Among visitors present were representatives from the Shannon Club. Mesdames O. E. Austin and W. Stewart were indefatigible in their efforts to ensure every one spending an enjoyable time. The euchre prizes were won by Miss Cummerfield (first) and Mrs Cummerfield (“booby”), Mr Allen (first) and Mr Frank Robinson (“ booby ”). After supper had. been handed round, a most enjoyable dance was indulged in. Mr Phillips, the energetic Club’s secretary, officiated as M.C., and the Misses Cook (piano and violin) supplied the music. During an interval, Mr Gower, the Club president, awarded the trophies won during the year as follows: —Gent’s doubles, Messrs Clark (bedroom clock) and K. Furrie (silver shaving brush); gent’s singles, Mr J. Heuuessy (silver-mounted shaving strop); combined doubles, Miss and Mr S, Wanklyn (silver candle stick, and silver shaving mug). Before the gathering dispersed, Mr Stansell, on behalf of the Shannon Club, thanked the local Club for its hospitality.
