Elsie Johnston, aged 23, daughter of a Thames -resident, left home on Thursday, and the body was found in the Kaueranga River on Saturday morning. The girl’s skirts were found near the water. There are numbers of industries in this Dominion where the goods manufactured have not been excelled in any part of the world, for instance, the Welsbach mantles. These mantles are made in New Zealand, by New Zealanders, for New Zealanders, and can be obtained from all gas companies and stores. It is wonderful what a difference the Welsbach mantle makes, and what a saving of gas it effects. The Pall Mall Gazette, commenting on Germany’s race for Dreadnoughts, states that Krupp’s works at Essen have ten pits for the trial of heavy gun-mountings, enabling them to construct gunmountings sufficient for six Dreadnoughts annually.
