FOXTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of the General Committee of the Foxton Horticultural Society was held in Mr RaeHoward’s office on Thursday evening. There was a large attendance, the President (Mr A. Speirs) presiding. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. It was decided to hold both a spring and an autumn show this year, and the dates for the former were fixed for November 24th and 25th, and about the middle of April for the Autumn show. It was decided to include poultry classes in the spring show only. Catalogues for the spring and autumn shows were drawn up and will be presented at a general meeting of members to be held shortly, for their approval before being printed. The Secretary stated that he had received offers of the followdonations : Mrs Thynue £1 is, and Mr B. G. Gower £3 3s, both of these being for the collection of biids’ eggs, but not to include starlings’ eggs. . . Mr Alex. Speirs again donated is for the best cottage gardenEveryone would be eligible to compete, with the exception of the winner in this competition at last show.
Mr G. Coley had also promised a special prize for the best work iu the children’s classes. The Chairman said that the Secretary would be pleased to receive any further donations towards the funds or prize list before the catalogues are printed, so that they may be included in same. Other details were arranged and the meeting rose.
