WATER SUPPLY.
A I.ARGE number of residents who rely upon house tanks for their water supply are carefully husbanding the precious liquor. A number of tanks have already been emptied and certain householders are carting water from the windmill and elsewhere. If the dry weather continues much longer the position will become very serious. There is abundant evidence of the necessity for a water supply for the borough. This reminds us that the Council, whose term ot office is about to expire, pledged themselves to support a water scheme before last election. Apparently each Councillor has waited for the other to take action,
but all that has been accomplished is to let a contract for putting down a trial artesian bore, which has not yet been commenced. The water supply question should be grappled in real earnest by the new Council and not allowed to be trifled with any longer.
