Union to rqut the old librarybuildings, and to decide action re gas deposit. Present: His-Wor-ship the Mayor (B. G. Gower, Esq.,) and Crs Baker,, Fraiikland, Jenks, Stiles and White- : letting the old library building, .it was decided that the; Public Works Committee inspect and decide as to renovating the premises prior to giving Jan .answer ,to the Flaxmills. Employees’ . Union’,

Mr Hindmarsh,,solicited, on.behalf of, Wv H-, Stewart, wrote Stating that, unless the deposit was paid by the 25th inst., piroreedr ings would be taken to' recover the same. After discussion it was decided that if proceedings! were taken the Borough solicitor be instructed to. defend same. , .

Correspondence, was read from . the Treasury, , anent Whirofcino bridge loan, and, N.Z. Shipping . Co. re metal in front of sheds, consideration of which was held over .. till the monthly meeting.
