The second match for the Austin Shield was played at Victoria Park yesterday afternoon between Foxton and Himatangi and resulted in'a win for the local team by 76 runs. Foxton batted first and put up 95 lor the loss of eight wickets and then declared the innings closed. Betty 24 (not out) Rand 14 and Robinson 13, being the chief scorers. G. Duck was the most successful bowler for the visitors. Owing to the deadly bowling of Nye and Baillie, Himatangi were only able to score 19, Whitten 7 being top scorer. The Himatangi players are to be congratulated on their sportsmanlike action in allowing the local team to play Betty and Littlejohn, members of the Debaters Club, but at the same time this kind of thing should not be allowed in cup matches. If the Foxton Club could not get a full team they should have played two man short and the Association should see that members of Clubs play for one team only in cup matches.
