A WOODING AND A SILVER ANNIVERSARY.
The wedding of Miss Elinor Davidson, niece of the late Mr Aloysius Macdonald, to Mr Cyril Ward, eldest son of the Premier, was solemnised at Wellington on Saturday afternoon at the Basilica, Hill-street. The church was charmingly decorated for the event, and the service, though not choral, because it was Advent, was most impressive, Miss Putnam, the organist, playing some voluntaries beforehand, and the Wedding March after the ceremony. The church was crowded with guests and spectators. The bride, who is charmingly graceful and girlish, wore a very simple Empire frock of rich white satin, the square tucked yoke of chiffon net being bordered by rows of pearl embroidery. The very long train was carried by Master Pat Ward, the most picturesque of pages in white satin court-dress and tricorne hat, bearing a silver crook. The two bridesmaids, Miss Ward and Miss Gladys Webster, were in white crepe de chine frocks with white hats, Miss Ward having clusters of violets in her hat, and carrying a bouquet of mauve sweet peas, and Miss Gladys Webster pjnk flowers in boucmet and hat. The best man was Mr W. Prouse. Lady Ward’s beautiful go,wn was of silver grey crepe de chine,, aqd her hat of mole colour was massed with piques, After the wedding a reception was held at Awarua Mouse, to celebrate the double event, the wedding and the silver wedding of the Premier and Lady Ward, It was a charming notion to combine the two events, A very large number of presents—many extremely handsome—have been received by the two brides and bridegrooms—one naturally gives the brides the place of honour. Many relations came to Wellington for the ceremony, among them Mrs Tipping, Sir Joseph’s sister, from the Bluff; Mrs and Miss Henderson, from Invercargill and Mrs Boyes, from Christchurch —Lady Ward’s two sisters, and Mr and Mrs Ward, from Palmerston North. The bride’s travelling frock was of white cloth, and she wore a white hat.
