Miranui v. Foxton.

The above match was played on the local pitch on Saturday afternoon, and after a good game, resulted in a win for the visitors by 23 runs on the first innings. Foxton batted first, and knocked up 93, Gordon (47) and Baillic (16) being the chief scorers. The former batted well, and gave no chances. Miranui’s bowling was fair, Carter being most successful. Miranui scored 116, Tremewan 79, not out, and Tracy 11, being the only double figure scores. Tremewan' gave one chance in the slips when he had scorad five; with this exception, be gave an excellent exhibition of batting. Foxton’s bowling was very weak.

The visitors were entertained at afternoon tea on the ground, and tea after the match.
