WANGANUI EDUCATION BOARD.

Ordinary Meeting.

By Telegraph—Special to Herald Wanganui, To-Day. The above meeting was held last night. Present: —Messrs Pirani ( Chairman). Aldridge, Bennett, Dixon, Fraser, Guthrie, Purnell and Spurdle. Leave of absence was granted to Mr Cargill. Resignations: L. Massman, Crofton ; West, Spur Road ; H. W. Lock, Manui. Appointments: Mr Rockell, Teroti; R. Wallace, Warrengate ; Miss Barron, Waitohi. The resignation of Mr Robbins, of Foxton, was held over. Mr Fraser to report at the next meeting. Letters were received from Mr J. Stevens M.P., in reference to a grant for the Bulls District High School, and it was resolved to thank Mr Stevens for the trouble he had taken in the matter.

Rangitikei County Council wrote enclosing a donation of ,£2O for technical education in the Rangitikei County. Resolved to send a letter of thanks, and to intimate that the Board will do its utmost to advance technical education in the county.

The Chief Inspector wrote regarding instructions of Mr E. S. Baker. Matter referred to Mr Fraser to report at next meeting. Insurance. —The Board decided to insure against accident with the New Zealand Insurance Company, the office, staff, inspectors and travelling instructors, also the school caretakers as soon as the Secretary can ascertain how many are employed throughout the district.

The Rongotea Committee applied for new single desks. —Referred to Mr Fraser to report at the next meeting.

The architect’s account for plans and supervision of the Feilding Technical School was passed, less the sum of £6O x6s 8d charged for clerk of works.

Accounts amounting to ,£924 16s gd were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned until the third Wednesday (19th) of August.
