AUCTION REPORT.
Mr P. M. Page reports a good attendance of buyers at the mart on Saturday, when a lot of useful lines were sold at satisfactory prices. Mr Brown’s poultry proved an attraction to buyers, but the birds hardly realised the prices ruling in other centres for prizebred poultry. Good business was also done in horse and cow covers, and all produce lines. Quotations: Pears, 5s per 241 b case; apples, 8s per large case; pie melons, per lb; sweet chestnuts, 4d per lb ; potatoes, 8s per cwt; pumpkins, 6s per cwt; table swedes, 5s 6d per cwt; carrots, 4d per bundle ; onions, per lb ; Stewart Island oysters, 6d per dozen ; Indian Runner Ducks, 3s each ; Drakes, 5s each ; Silver Wyaudottes, 3s to 3s 6d each; Silver Wyandotte Rooster, 6s 6d each.
