ARTESIAN WATER.
At last night’s Borough Council meeting, the following letter was read by the Clerk in reference to the above question ; “ Foxton, 4th May, 1908. — P. R. Purser, Esq., Eower Hutt. Dear Sir, —My Council are considering the question of artesian water supply, and as I understand you have a similar system in your borough, I should esteem it a favour if you would kindly give me a few particulars of same, as, for instance, the number of wells, the depth bored, the flow of wells, number and capacity of reservoirs, the height the water is pumped into same, the class of engine used, for pumping, whether gas or steam, the pressure of water for fi.e purposes, the suitability of water for domestic purposes, the running expenses of the installed system, the price charged to consumers, and total cost of your installation, and any other information you may deem of service or interest. If you yourself are unable to supply the desired information, would you kindly pass the letter on to Mr H. Rex Trott, and ask him to be kind enough to do so. Mr Clime, Government Engineer, with whom I had a conversation upon this subject a short time ago, advised me to apply to yourself or your engineer for information, as he felt sure you would willingly oblige, and as my Council meet on Monday next (r Ith inst.), I should he very grateful if you could reply before that date. —Yours faithfully, Town Clerk.”
The Clerk stated that up to last night he had not received any reply.
