CORRESPONDENCE.

We do not hold ourselves responsible for opinions expressed by our correspondents.

[TO THE EDITOR.]

Sir, —I notice that several of your worthy subscribers have lately occupied some of your valu- ■ able space as regards letters; I would crave some of your space J with the following short poem : 4 THE VILLAGE FEIIIiYMAS. Under the spreading willow tree, The village captain stands 5 An important, mighty mah is he, With soft and tender hands ; But the muscles of his iron jaws Are strong as iron bands. His hair, once crisp, black and tan, . Is getting thin and few ; For studying how to raise the fires, Has made him ratner blue, Watching neighbours as they cross By paddling their own canoe. Week in, week put, from morn till night, YOu can hear those thundering tones, AVhen lie sees cyclists wheeling by, He vows he'll break the bones Of those who evade the fenyman— In language quite high flown, The children coming home from ■ school, x Still peep at the open door, And watch the incense curling up, And hear the brilliant lore Of the Philadelphia lawyer, Who can quote the Acts galore, K He goes on Sunday to no church, But sits among his cows, And squirts the lactial fluid out—• 4| The whiles his making vows, He’ll stop Me William's doing things The Statutes disallows. Threatening, yelling, laughing, Onward through life he goes, Each morning sees no row begun, A nd eve sees not its close; Something attempted something done* ~ He blows his bloomin’ nose. And now lament our worthy friend, By the public is suff'ring a wrong V We must thank him again, "N Assured in the past he’s helped ' us along. What rot 1 He’s not the sort of man To ply these years for a song, I am, etc., F. W. Box, Shannon.
