GOODS TRAIN DASHES INTO A GIG.

Horse Killed and Vehicle

Smashed.

Hunterville, February 23,

A serious accident occurred at the Vinegar Hill Road railway crossing, near Hunterville, yesterday, to two men named McLean and Campion. From information received it appears that the gentlemen mentioned were in the act of driving across the line in a gig mhen a goods train dashed into them, killing the horse, smashing the vehicle and throwing the occupants in opposite directions. The brakes were instantly applied to the train, and those in charge promptly rendered every assistance to the sufferers. It seemed almost increditable that the men were alive. Campion had one of his legs injured and other bruises. McLean was less fortunate, the poor fellow being considerably knocked about and suffering intense pain. Both sufferers were taken into Hunterville and at once attended to by Dr Smith.
