SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP.

Weather, conditions are perfect for the race this afternoon, and the town is crowded with people from all parts of the Dominion, including a number of enthusiasts from Australia. Accommodation ■ at hotels and boarding-houses is at a premium. Almost all shop Windows contain photos of the champion and challenger and pictorial souvenirs. The course over which the race will be rowed is about seven miles up the river, and Messrs Hatrick and Co. are reaping a munificent harvest. Fares range.-frdm,;>3/- to 6/-, and up to £2. Tuck, a local publican, and Webb’s backer, and Hatrick and Co. are scooping in the dollars. Much public dissatisfaction exists with the arrangements made, and “Bung” Tuck will be the most abused man in town after the race. Webb is favourite.
