London, February 13
In connection with the arrest of fifty suffragists for the latest, effort to storm the House of Commons, one was fined forty shillings or one month’s imprisonment. The others were bound over to find sureties that they will keep the peace, or, in default, to go to prison for six weeks.
A sexagenarian was discharged. She was greatly disappoi ted. Of the others, all except two chose imprisonment. The suffragists at Caxton Hall announce that the movement continues with increasing energy. Many subscriptions are acknowledged. The prisoners, when going to Holloway gaol, sent the following message:— “ All well. Vrey cheerful. The only thing we care about is that the Government be forced to yield. We are keener than ever. Heavy sentences do not deter ns. We consider them an indication that the Government is afraid of our agitation.”
