HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
Autumn Show Postponed.
A meeting of the -members of the above Society was held in Mr M. Perreau’s rooms last night and was attended by a very representative gathering the Rev. G. K. Aitken presided. The object of the meeting was to discuss the advisability of postponing the inaugural show dated for March 18th and 19th. Several members spode in support of postponing the show till November ou account of the long spell of dry weather having spoilt exhibits. Mr Woods mentioned that the Pahiatua and Woodville Shows had been abandoned for the same reason. It was desirable in the best interests of the society M> make the inaugural Show a success. It was unanimously decided to postpone the Show till November, the exact date to be decided by the committee.
The catalogues as printed were very favourably commented upon and distributed to members of the committee. It was resolved to make a small charge for same to others than members and subscribers.
A committee was set up to deal with the settling of accounts etc., and the meeting rose.
