THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNIC.
The children attending the several Presbyterian Sunday Schools throughout the district, were entertained at a united picnic at Oroua Bridge on Wednesday last. The trains from Foxton and Tiakitahuna brought a large number of children, parents, and friends, while in a short time vehicles of all kinds —from the ordinary spring cart to the 15 h.p. motor car — brought contingents from near and far. By n a.m., the fine shady paddock belonging to Mr Pearce, was a gay scene of life and colour, while the joyous shouts and bursts of rippling laughter indicated enjoyment. Games of various kinds were heartily engaged in by young and old. Races among the children for a number of useful piizes created a keenness of competition interesting to see.
The picnic of 1908 was characterised by all as the best and happiest ever held in the district. It certainly reflected great credit on the promoters,: who .had .not spared themselves ter make the outing an immense success. Cheers particularly to Mr J. H. Wilton, who worked very hard, and the teachers and friends who had done everything in their power to make the gathering a success, and to Mr Pearce for the use of his paddock, brought to a close a day that will live long in the recollection of both young and old who participated in its enjoyment.
