RAILWAY STATON BURNT.

Timaru, January 24. Glenavy railway station was destroyed by fire, and all the station books, telegraph instruments, post office material, including stamps and the newly-arrived mail, were burnt, while about £BO in cash was also lost. A cadet’s bicycle, watch, and coat were destroyed, and nothing but a few tickets was saved, though the points keys were afterwards found in the debits. Telegraphic communication was interrupted, but is now restored. The main line was buckled by the heat, and the expresses had to use the side lines.
