RIVER PICNIC.
The second moonlight river picnic, held under the auspices of the Ladies’ Guild of the Presbyterian Church, took place last night, and proved a most enjoyable outing. Arrangements had been made to land the excursionists on the north bank. In anticipation of this, a party visited the locality in the afternoon, and made preparations for supper. An ice-cream plant was placed at the disposal of the promoters, and a special swing was erected for the pleasurs of Lhe young folk. -When the party arrived, however, •it was found that a landing could not be effected without entailing certain risks, and, amidst expressions of disappointment, a landing was effected on the opposite shore. The calm atmosphere and moonlight, and a stroll along the splendid beach, more than compensated for the loss of the ice-creams and swings., and an enjoyable time was spent. The band helped to enliven the proceedings. Supper was served on the boat by a willing band of helpeis during the return journey, which was much appreciated.
