MR KEIR HARDIE

Meets with a Motor Accident. Wellington, Yesterday. Mr Keir Hardie, M.P., who arrived in Wellington on Friday night, met with an accident 011 Saturday. The Mayor took the visitor for a motor car drive into the country on Saturday morning. Cn the return journey, within half a mile of Johnsonville, two carts were encountered on the road, going in opposite directions. In endeavouring to avoid the carts, the driver of the motor got too close to the embankment of the road, and the steering-gear not acting promptly, the car went over the bank, capsizing the occupants. Mr Hardie, in falling, struck the stump of a tree, and broke one of his ribs. He is progressing favourably.
